Maybe I'm a winter apple tree:
As spring brings bloom so frost brings me
Although the tree now sleeps.

Maybe I'm a frozen winter well:
Where tears might stream or anger yell
Now winter's frost restricts the flow.

The well fell dry with winter's ice
The apple tree stands bare -
But apple trees need winter's sleep
To bear their fruit anew.

Fruits of temperate climates [...] will not grow adequately in the tropics, as they need a period of cold (a chilling requirement) each year before they will flower.
From wikipedia

Inspiration works in strange ways: A wikipedia article, a conversation about mental apple trees, a line with a rhythm, and an unexpected walk with a dog, that gave me plenty of time to come up with the rest of the poem.
The last line gave me some trouble: ....in June? ...in fall? ...next year? ...anew!

I particularly like the last stanza. I simply love the metre there, and the way everything comes together: both in scheme and in message.

"Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.
And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.
And how else can it be?
The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain. " - Kahlil Gibran

I don't know much about poetry, but I really really like the "mental apple tree" concept.

Thank you :] I changed the original phrase to Winter Apple Tree because I felt "winter" is more graphic, a stronger image.

Yea, it's a pure iambic meter there, the other stanzas begin with a trochee line. Thank you :]
